SHARE THE LOVE SOCKS DRIVE

ALL SCHOOLS will be collecting new socks the week of February 11-15 for the “Share the Love” drive.  Particularly in need are Men’s dark-colored athletic socks.  The socks will be donated to the Code Blue Shelter of Burlington County and the Joy of Sox in Philadelphia.

 

WAMS SPRING MUSICAL – NEWSIES

WAMS Theater is proud to present their spring production of Newsies! This Disney production brings the story of the 1899 newsboy strike to life through moving music, clever dialogue and beautiful choreography. Performances are February 21, 22 and 23 at 7PM and February 24 at 2:30PM in the WAMS auditorium. Tickets can be purchased through Showtix4u (link here). We look forward to seeing you there!

 

STEM EVENT – LEGO NIGHT, FEBRUARY 28TH

An opportunity for children K through 6 to have fun with LEGOs and develop their interest in STEM! On February 28th from 5:00-7:30 pm at Moorestown Upper Elementary School, the MHS robotics team, the Combustible Lemons, will host a shipwrecked-themed LEGO building event for young students in Moorestown. WAMS STEM CAREER DAY SPEAKERS NEEDED
WAMS needs 40 (or more) people who are in a STEM field to present to three different classes on April 12th from 7:45AM to 9:15AM.  This is a great opportunity to bring your career to a school and hopefully spark the curiosity of a child.  Unfortunately, this event was cancelled last year due to a lack of volunteers.  We know that our town is filled with people in all kinds of careers that fit the bill and are truly eager to expose our kids to what it is you do.  To volunteer please click  here.  If you have any questions please reach out to any of the following:  Zohreh,  Maggie, or Harry.

PROJECT GRADUATION 2019
We are reaching out to parents to ask for your support of the Moorestown High School Class of 2019 Project Graduation.  Project Graduation is a nationwide event that was started as a response to the staggering number of alcohol and drug related teenage deaths on graduation night. Moorestown adopted Project Graduation 30 years ago as an annual community sponsored event to keep our High School graduates and the Moorestown community safe. The cost of Project Graduation is $200 / per graduate.  We are asking for your help.  Please consider donating to Project Graduation.   You can make a donation through our website:  www.mhsprojectgraduation.com   There is no better way to congratulate the graduating seniors than by making a donation.  Your support is vital to the success of the Moorestown High School Class of 2019 Project Graduation.  Thank you for your support!

 

FRESHMAN & SOPHOMORE COTILLION – FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 22ND 7:00-9:30PM

Tickets are on sale online for the Cotillon!  You can purchase tickets through the payment portal on Genesis.   Tickets are $35 and the event will be held at the Moorestown Community House.

HOLD THE DATE! – WAMS H&S MEETING, MARCH 1, 9:30 AM

8th Grade parents…The next Home and School meeting at WAMS on March 1st at 9:30am will have MHS Principal Drew Seibel and Director of Guidance Kat D’Ambra in attendance to preview what will happen on March 12th at the Program of Studies Night. Program of Studies Night is the evening 8th grade parents visit the high school and hear about how the school works prior to their 8th grader meeting with guidance to choose classes.  Come to our Home and School meeting on the 1st to get the inside scoop and ask questions!

 

YEARBOOK

Attention all Parents/Guardians.  If you haven’t purchased a 2018-2019 WAMS Yearbook yet, now is the time. Yearbooks are currently on sale on-line for $50 at www.Balfour.com.  Click on the “Show My School” drop down and then type in William Allen Middle School in the search bar and follow the directions to purchase your book on-line.  You will need your child’s name, grade and homeroom teacher’s name to complete the order.  Online sales will continue until March 30th!! If you have any questions regarding the purchase of Yearbook, please contact Mrs. Longmuir  Please include your child’s name, grade and homeroom in the e-mail.

6TH GRADE BEACH PARTY – FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 22, 2019, 3-4:30PM

FINGERPRINTING

The “Prints of Love” Fingerprinting for all kindergarten and new students will take place at SV on Friday, February 22.  We need volunteers to help with fingerprinting, escorting the students to/from their classrooms and helping wash hands.  If you are available and would like to help volunteer, please click here.

SCIENCE DAY

Science Day at Baker is coming up February 15th! Our presentation team is so kind to share their time and knowledge to bring science engagement straight to the classroom. Please help us thank our parent and community partners (many of whom are stepping away from busy schedules to make this day possible) with a luncheon prior to the presentations.  Please sign up here to make or bring items to support this wonderful event. SpEAC
SpEAC stands for the Special Education Advocacy Council.  We are parent-run organization that provides a forum to discuss important challenges facing our children in the schools and community, and an off-board committee of Home & School. SpEAC’s mission is to positively impact the education of all students, with an emphasis on those students needing or receiving special education services. If your child has an IEP or a 504 Plan, you should be involved!  Please join us at one of our monthly meetings to learn more. Find the full schedule of SpEAC meetings on our website.
