HSA Virtual Wine Tasting

We are all looking for some normalcy. Unfortunately we can’t do a big, in-person, adult social this year but that doesn’t mean we can’t get together for some fun (even if it is virtual). Please join us for the first (and hopefully last) virtual wine tasting on Friday, March 19th at 8pm. Grab some dinner and then join us as our own personal sommelier takes us on a tasting of four UNCOMMON wines. The zoom event will last about 45-60 minutes. It is live but will be recorded in case you need to watch at a later date. The price is $100 if you would like to pick up your wine at Versi Vino on Route 38 or $120 if you would like it delivered. Please note that an adult over 21 years of age will need to sign for delivery at either location. We look forward to seeing you on March 19th for some fun. Contact Elyse Brown, gbea94@aol.com with questions. https://moorestownhomeandschool.com/uncommon-grapes-wine-tasting/

Soup for the Soul

One of the greatest Moorestown High School traditions is its annual Soup for the Soul event hosted by the Interact Club for the last 20 years. Unfortunately, due to food service restrictions put in place in response to the Covid-19 pandemic, we have decided not to hold our event as we have in the past.  We typically donate around $5,000 annually to Philabundance and, this year, we would like to support them more than ever.  There are three ways you can help support our cause.

1) Buy a Moorestown cookbook:

We asked the residents of Moorestown to submit their favorite family recipes so that we could compile them into a Moorestown community cookbook.  We had a fantastic response and are able to offer a book with over 50 wonderful recipes.  A digital-only version is available for a suggested donation of $10, and a physical printed book will be available for a suggested donation of $20.  Additionally, as an added bonus, each person who purchases a physical cookbook will be entered into a drawing to win one of three $25 gift cards to Bacio.

To purchase a cookbook of favorite Moorestown recipes, please click this link: tinyurl.com/Cookbook2021

2) Purchase Soup from Bacio:

Bacio Kitchen & Catering in Palmyra (www.bcater.com) has offered to run a special soup pick- up to benefit our event, Soup for the Soul.  Soup must be ordered by Feb 15th for pick up on Feb 18th.  Please use the link below to pre-order a pint of soup: tinyurl.com/BacioSoup2021

3) Support La Vie Hair and Nails Salon:

La Vie Hair and Nails Salon has offered to donate 5% of their revenue to Soup for the Soul until March 7, 2021, as long as you mention “Moorestown High School” when you make your appointment.  Please consider helping Soup for the Soul and Philabundance by supporting La Vie Hair and Nails Salon at 79 E. Main Street in Moorestown (856-222-4100).  la-vie-hair-and-nails-salon.business.site

Despite not being able to host our traditional Soup for the Soul event, we still hope to donate as much money as possible to Philabundance.  Thank you for your support.

Soup for the Soul

As you may know, Soup for the Soul is one of the Moorestown High School’s largest fundraising events which benefits Philabundance, the largest hunger relief organization in the Delaware Valley. Normally, we sell tickets to a soup and bread lunch, with food donated from local restaurants, a raffle, and live entertainment.

However, due to COVID-19, we have decided to change our event. In order to still benefit Philabundance and the families that rely on their assistance, we are selling a cookbook filled with Moorestown’s favorite recipes (online and physical copies). *Details on how to purchase the book will be available soon.

We are collecting recipes from Moorestown residents and restaurants, and would greatly appreciate it if you could become a part of this effort by submitting your favorite recipe (i.e. soup, bread, dessert, etc.) via this form: tinyurl.com/SoupRecipes2021. Despite the changes, we hope that you will choose to help us hold our most successful fundraising effort this year!

 Lawn Signs for Madison

Madison, is a Junior at MHS and sadly, her family recently found out she has a brain tumor. She is a vibrant, non-verbal autistic, sixteen-year-old whose fought her way through many battles before but during these trying times…this next leg of their journey seems even more daunting.

Join us in bringing a smile to their face on their journeys to and from the hospital for Madison’s chemo by purchasing and displaying a lawn sign for Madison to see:) *Purchase price covers cost of sign and donation made directly to Madison’s family. This is a NON-SHIPPABLE ITEM. Pick up at Maurizio’s Pizza between 6pm- 7pm Monday12/14, Tuesday 12/15, (NOT WED DUE TO SNOW) Thursday 12/17 and Friday 12/18.

If you are considering a financial donation (which goes directly to the family) visit our site www.onefunnymotherstore.com and click “Madison Gift Card” or send cards to C/O Madison, PO Box 604, Moorestown, NJ, 08057. The family respectfully asks no check sent to them but would love cards, drawings and well wishes:)

We are also coordinating with local artists, musicians who might be interested in performing in front of their front window (her personal stage) to provide interesting visual and auditory performances but she can watch safely from her home. Please contact Dena at dena@denablizzard.com if you are interested. We are only accepting solo singers or within a family to ensure COVID protocols are adhered to.

Thank you for any help/ good wishes you can send the Luyber family. I know this year has been difficult but this seems like the perfect time of year to show our love and support of a family in need.  You can follow updates on Madison’s journey on Facebook at 4 Paws for Madison.

This year, our Scholastic Book Fair is a little different – we’re going virtual!

Travel through the Scholastic Time Machine with your kids to buy books online during our virtual book fair, from October 16th to October 29th! While we won’t have an in-person fair this fall, we know that buying books for students is an important way to fuel their knowledge and inspire imagination. PLUS, your purchases though the book fair provide our school libraries with their own “Scholastic Dollars” which they use to stock up on books and more!

All of the elementary schools are participating in the online fair at the same time. Please click on the school link below to go to your virtual book fair – it starts today!
